The concentration gradients of the kit standards or positive controls render a theoretical kit detection range in biological research samples containing KCNJ11. The ELISA analytical biochemical technique of the MBS280155 kit is based on KCNJ11 antibody-KCNJ11 antigen interactions (immunosorbency) and an HRP colorimetric detection system to detect KCNJ11 antigen targets in samples. Principle of the Assay: This assay employs a two-site sandwich ELISA to quantitate KCNJ11 in samples. An antibody specific for KCNJ11 has been pre-coated onto a microplate. Standards and samples are pipetted into the wells and anyKCNJ11 present is bound by the immobilized antibody. After removing any unbound substances, a biotin-conjugated antibody specific for KCNJ11 is added to the wells. After washing, Streptavidin conjugated Horseradish Peroxidase (HRP) is added to the wells. Following a wash to remove any unbound avidin-enzyme reagent, a substrate solution is added to the wells and color develops in proportion to the amount of KCNJ11 bound in the initial step. The color development is stopped and the intensity of the color is measured.

This receptor is controlled by G proteins. Inward rectifier potassium channels are characterized by a greater tendency to allow potassium to flow into the cell rather than out of it. Their voltage dependence is regulated by the concentration of extracellular potassium; as external potassium is raised, the voltage range of the channel opening shifts to more positive voltages. The inward rectification is mainly due to the blockage of outward current by internal magnesium. Can be blocked by extracellular barium. Can form cardiac and smooth muscle-type KATP channels with ABCC9. KCNJ11 forms the channel pore while ABCC9 is required for activation and regulation ().
