Related Product Information for
anti-CDH3 antibody
CDH3 is a classical cadherin from the cadherin superfamily. It is a calcium-dependent cell-cell adhesion glycoprotein comprised of five extracellular cadherin repeats, a transmembrane region and a highly conserved cytoplasmic tail. Aberrant expression of this protein is observed in cervical adenocarcinomas. Mutations in the gene encoding CDH3 have been associated with congential hypotrichosis with juvenile macular dystrophy.

NCBI Summary for CDH3
This gene is a classical cadherin from the cadherin superfamily. The encoded protein is a calcium-dependent cell-cell adhesion glycoprotein comprised of five extracellular cadherin repeats, a transmembrane region and a highly conserved cytoplasmic tail. This gene is located in a six-cadherin cluster in a region on the long arm of chromosome 16 that is involved in loss of heterozygosity events in breast and prostate cancer. In addition, aberrant expression of this protein is observed in cervical adenocarcinomas. Mutations in this gene have been associated with congential hypotrichosis with juvenile macular dystrophy. UniProt Comments for CDH3
CDH3: Cadherins are calcium dependent cell adhesion proteins. They preferentially interact with themselves in a homophilic manner in connecting cells; cadherins may thus contribute to the sorting of heterogeneous cell types. Interacts with CDCP1. Expressed in some normal epithelial tissues and in some carcinoma cell lines. 2 isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative splicing.
Protein type: Motility/polarity/chemotaxis; Cell adhesion; Membrane protein, integral
Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 16q22.1
Cellular Component: cell-cell adherens junction; cytoplasm; plasma membrane; integral to membrane
Molecular Function: calcium ion binding
Biological Process: response to drug; positive regulation of insulin-like growth factor receptor signaling pathway; intercellular junction assembly and maintenance; wound healing; positive regulation of melanin biosynthetic process; Wnt receptor signaling pathway through beta-catenin; hair cycle process; retinal homeostasis; negative regulation of transforming growth factor-beta2 production; cell-cell adhesion; negative regulation of catagen; positive regulation of monophenol monooxygenase activity; visual perception; keratinization; homophilic cell adhesion; cell adhesion
