Other Notes
Small volumes of Apba2 recombinant protein vial(s) may occasionally become entrapped in the seal of the product vial during shipment and storage. If necessary, briefly centrifuge the vial on a tabletop centrifuge to dislodge any liquid in the container`s cap. Certain products may require to ship with dry ice and additional dry ice fee may apply.
Related Product Information for
Apba2 recombinant protein
This protein is a member of the X11 protein family. It is a neuronal adapter protein that interacts with the Alzheimer s disease amyloid precursor protein (APP). It stabilizes APP and inhibits production of proteolytic APP fragments including the A beta peptide that is deposited in the brains of Alzheimer s disease patients. This gene product is believed to be involved in signal transduction processes. It is also regarded as a putative vesicular trafficking protein in the brain that can form a complex with the potential to couple synaptic vesicle exocytosis to neuronal cell adhesion. Multiple transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been found for this gene.

NCBI Summary for Apba2
component of multimeric complex containing component of multimeric complex containing Munc18-1 and syntaxin; binds PIP and PIP2; may mediate synaptic vesicle docking/fusion [RGD, Feb 2006]
UniProt Comments for Apba2
Putative function in synaptic vesicle exocytosis by binding to STXBP1, an essential component of the synaptic vesicle exocytotic machinery. May modulate processing of the amyloid-beta precursor protein (APP) and hence formation of APP-beta.
Research Articles on Apba2
1. These data suggest that Mint2 may play more important role in spinal cord than the other two family members.
