Product Note
Select online data sheet information is drawn from bioinformatics databases, occasionally resulting in ambiguous or non-relevant product information. It is the responsibility of the customer to review, verify, and evaluate the information to make sure it matches their requirements before purchasing the kit. Our ELISA Kit assays are dynamic research tools and sometimes they may be updated and improved. If the format of this assay is important to you then please request the current manual or contact our technical support team with a presales inquiry before placing an order. We will confirm the current details of the assay. We cannot guarantee the sample manual posted online is the most current manual.
Other Notes
Small volumes of PIGV elisa kit vial(s) may occasionally become entrapped in the seal of the product vial during shipment and storage. If necessary, briefly centrifuge the vial on a tabletop centrifuge to dislodge any liquid in the container`s cap. Certain products may require to ship with dry ice and additional dry ice fee may apply.

MBS9336771 is a ready-to-use microwell, strip plate ELISA (enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay) Kit for analyzing the presence of the phosphatidylinositol glycan anchor biosynthesis, class V (PIGV) ELISA Kit target analytes in
biological samples. The concentration gradients of the kit standards or positive controls render a theoretical kit detection range in biological research samples containing PIGV. The ELISA analytical biochemical technique of the MBS9336771 kit is based on PIGV antibody-PIGV antigen interactions (immunosorbency) and an HRP colorimetric detection system to detect PIGV antigen targets in samples. The ELISA Kit is designed to detect native, not recombinant, PIGV. Appropriate sample types may include undiluted body fluids and/or tissue homogenates, secretions. Quality control assays assessing reproducibility identified the intra-assay CV (%) and inter-assay CV(%).

NCBI Summary for PIGV
This gene encodes a mannosyltransferase enzyme involved in the biosynthesis of glycosylphosphatidylinositol (GPI). GPI is a complex glycolipid that functions as a membrane anchor for many proteins and plays a role in multiple cellular processes including protein sorting and signal transduction. The encoded protein is localized to the endoplasmic reticulum and transfers the second mannose to the GPI backbone. Mutations in this gene are associated with hyperphosphatasia mental retardation syndrome. Alternatively spliced transcript variants have been observed for this gene. [provided by RefSeq, Feb 2011]
UniProt Comments for PIGV
PIGV: Alpha-1,6-mannosyltransferase involved in glycosylphosphatidylinositol-anchor biosynthesis. Transfers the second mannose to the glycosylphosphatidylinositol during GPI precursor assembly. Defects in PIGV are the cause of hyperphosphatasia with mental retardation type 1 (HPMRS1). It is a syndrome characterized by elevated serum alkaline phosphatase, severe mental retardation, seizures, hypotonia, facial dysmorphism, and hypoplastic terminal phalanges. Belongs to the PIGV family.
Protein type: Endoplasmic reticulum; Membrane protein, integral; Transferase; Membrane protein, multi-pass; Glycan Metabolism - glycosylphosphatidylinositol (GPI)-anchor biosynthesis; EC 2.4.1.-
Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 1p36.11
Cellular Component: endoplasmic reticulum membrane; integral to membrane
Molecular Function: mannosyltransferase activity
Biological Process: cellular protein metabolic process; preassembly of GPI anchor in ER membrane; GPI anchor biosynthetic process; C-terminal protein lipidation; post-translational protein modification
Disease: Hyperphosphatasia With Mental Retardation Syndrome 1
Research Articles on PIGV
1. PIGV is the rate-limiting enzyme in GPI biosynthesis under limited dolicholphosphate mannose availability.
