Intended Uses: This sandwich kit is for the accurate quantitative detection of human Sodium, Glucose Cotransporter 2 (also known as SGLT2) in serum, plasma, cell culture supernates, cell lysates, tissue homogenates.
Principles of the Assay: This kit is an Enzyme-Linked Immunosorbent Assay (ELISA). The plate has been pre-coated with human SGLT2 antibody. SGLT2 present in the sample is added and binds to antibodies coated on the wells. And then biotinylated human SGLT2
Antibody is added and binds to SGLT2 in the sample. Then Streptavidin-HRP is added and binds to the Biotinylated SGLT2 antibody. After incubation unbound Streptavidin-HRP is washed away during a washing step. Substrate solution is then added and color develops in proportion to the amount of human SGLT2. The reaction is terminated by addition of acidic stop solution and absorbance is measured at 450 nm.

This gene encodes a member of the sodium glucose cotransporter family which are sodium-dependent glucose transport proteins. The encoded protein is the major cotransporter involved in glucose reabsorption in the kidney. Mutations in this gene are associated with renal glucosuria. 1. Data suggest expression of SGLT1 is markedly increased in kidney of patients with type 2 diabetes as compared to control subjects; SGLT1 mRNA is highly and significantly correlated with fasting and postprandial plasma glucose and HbA1c. In contrast, data suggest SGLT2 and GLUT2 mRNA in kidney are down-regulated in type 2 diabetes, but not to statistically significant level. (GLUT2 = glucose transporter type 2)
