NCBI Summary for GH
ligand for growth hormone receptor; plays a role in a number of signaling pathways [RGD, Feb 2006]
UniProt Comments for GH
Plays an important role in growth control. Its major role in stimulating body growth is to stimulate the liver and other tissues to secrete IGF-1. It stimulates both the differentiation and proliferation of myoblasts. It also stimulates amino acid uptake and protein synthesis in muscle and other tissues.
Research Articles on GH
1. Impaired growth hormone-mediated signaling is observed in ethanol-exposed hepatocytes and is explained by differential effects of alcohol dehydrogenase (ADH)- and cytochrome P450 2E1 (CYP2E1)-mediated ethanol metabolism on the Jak2/STAT5B pathway.
