Applications Tested/Suitable for anti-MSX1 antibody
Peptide ELISA (EIA), Western Blot (WB), Immunohistochemistry (IHC)
Application Notes for anti-MSX1 antibody
Peptide ELISA: Antibody detection limit dilution 1: 64000.
Immunohistochemistry: In paraffin embedded Human Prostate shows staining of nucleoli in a few epithelial cells. Recommended concentration, 2-4ug/ml. Data obtained from a previous batch (different goat).
Western Blot: Preliminary experiments gave an approx.55-60kDa band in Human Muscle and Heart lysates at 1ug/ml. Further, this band was successfully blocked by incubation with the immunising peptide. Please note that currently we cannot find an explanation in the literature for the band we observe given the predicted size of approx.31.4kDa according to Human NP_002439.2.
Western Blot (WB) of anti-MSX1 antibody
(0.3ug/ml) staining of Human Prostate lysate (35ug protein in RIPA buffer). Primary incubation was 1 hour. Detected by chemiluminescence.

Immunohistochemistry (IHC) of anti-MSX1 antibody
(2.5ug/ml) staining of paraffin embedded Human Prostate. Steamed antigen retrieval with citrate buffer pH 6, AP-staining.

NCBI Summary for MSX1
This gene encodes a member of the muscle segment homeobox gene family. The encoded protein functions as a transcriptional repressor during embryogenesis through interactions with components of the core transcription complex and other homeoproteins. It may also have roles in limb-pattern formation, craniofacial development, particularly odontogenesis, and tumor growth inhibition. Mutations in this gene, which was once known as homeobox 7, have been associated with nonsyndromic cleft lip with or without cleft palate 5, Witkop syndrome, Wolf-Hirschom syndrome, and autosomoal dominant hypodontia. UniProt Comments for MSX1
MSX1: Acts as a transcriptional repressor. May play a role in limb-pattern formation. Acts in cranofacial development and specifically in odontogenesis. Expression in the developing nail bed mesenchyme is important for nail plate thickness and integrity. Expressed in the developing nail bed mesenchyme. Belongs to the Msh homeobox family.
